Greetings from President Victor Perea:

First of all, I hope all our members in Roswell are doing well.  I want to thank Rick Kuennemund and the recent addition of the new stewards.  They all do a great job there is Roswell.

Local 7070 represents all employees in Roswell.  About 826 employees in Albuquerque Public Schools.  We are now looking to merge with Food Service Workers here at Albuquerque Public Schools, who are represented by Local 7072.  Local 7072 represents approximately 500 employees.  This would make Local 7070 the largest C.W.A. Local.  The local bylaws are being rewritten to accommodate Food Services.

The Local Executive Board will read as follows:  President—Executive Vice President—Sec. Treasurer—Vice President    Roswell Independent School District—Vice President M&O APS —Vice President Custodial APS  and Vice President Food Services APS. 

All members will be asked to vote on changes of bylaws and the merge of Local 7070 and Local 7072.

Congratulations to retirees in Roswell, special thanks to Larry Yankee who served the Roswell Local for many years.  Hope he is doing well.  The local officers here in Albuquerque have been working very hard on C.O.P.E. drive.  The district has asked that all C.W.A. members contribute $2.00 by weekly to C.O.P.E..  Local 7070 is close to becoming the largest contributer in New Mexico to C.O.P.E.
